Since moving to Glendale under cash-poor ownership, the Coyotes have generally fielded bargain-basement teams that rely on grit, defense and goaltending. Other than Shane Doan -- who is more beloved for his captaincy and exemplary character than his style of play – there’s a dearth of identifiable faces in uniform.

It’s true that you’ll find a professional hockey team in Glendale. But there hasn’t been a lot to cheer for, and not a lot of incentive to cover the time, fuel costs, and hours on the road.
