Morning Line- Bobby Orr

“I think we have to put the centre red line (passing rule) back. (To prevent) injuries and because the game is being played the same now. You can pass from your zone all the way to the other line, deflect it in, go get it and shoot it out. Back and forth. If the centre line were back in, a lot of guys couldn’t play the game.

“If you have to carry that puck out of your end and make a pass, skate with it, it makes it different. I don’t think (removing the line) has increased the offence, nor has the trapezoid. It’s made it a dangerous game, guys flying out of their end, looking for that long stretch pass and bang, they’re being hit. These guys are so much bigger and faster than when I played.

“If you’re good enough to get to the NHL and they put the centre line back, don’t worry, they can adjust. Minor coaches watch NHL teams play and they want to coach like that. The kids aren’t skating with the puck or working on the fundamentals.”

-Bobby Orr.  Lance Hornby of the Toronto Sun has more from Brian Burke on changing the width of the rinks and also Brendan Shanahan on wooing Jimmy Vesey.

orr talks i listen ! we all knew the trapzoid was a joke . we all knew twerpman running league was a joke with his twerp ideas gonna ‘‘fix’’ the nhl has just turned it into a mess . trapazoid puts dmen in more danger and no red line causes suicide pass situations galore . but bettman has better ideas than bobby orr according to bettman

and like burke says widen rinks . all twerpmans stupid ideas dont increase excitement but the one obvious one of widening rinks to give talent n speed more room to burn do but the idiot dont see that

HTO, Bowman has been pushing move the blue line closer to to the goal, thus forcing forwards to come out to cover the dmen.

It’s too bad nobody has every suggested that the NHL enlarge its ice surface so that the game can still be fast, but players would have more room.

Nah, nevermind.  Dumb idea.  Let’s make every zone of play smaller so that the bigger players of today’s game have less room to move.

Some common sense here. Not to mention it would be putting skill back into the game. Also enlarge the ice surface as Garth has suggested.

I don’t know by how much cause I’m no pharmacist.  wink
