Once again, in my off season struggles to come up with something to blog about, discuss with my friends, or even chat about, with some one wearing Hawks gear, I’ve only been able to come up with a few more bits and pieces. Here’s a few of them now.
On the minor league note, The Rockford Ice Hogs single game season tickets will go on sale tomorrow, Thursday, September 8th. I have not read anything about an increase in tickets prices for this season. So here’s your chance to see future Hawk stars, on the glass, for right around $25.
Now, I said I would not comment on speculation as to the return of Patrick Kane. (Kane had surgery the third week in July on his left wrist) However, Kaner spoke about his recovery and here’s what he had to say;
“I’ve always believed training camp is a real big time of year for myself to get ready for the regular season, It’s definitely something you want to use.”
Kane would return to Training Camp on September 17, just two days after the splint is scheduled to be removed.
“I get the splint off the 15th so after that I should be able to do pretty much everything. I’ve been skating and working out. For a while there, I couldn’t go full equipment with the cast. Once I got the cast off that’s when I started trying to get back into the flow quickly.”
Kane also added,
“I’ve always believed training camp is a real big time of year for myself to get ready for the regular season, It’s definitely something you want to use.
I have a couple of weeks until the start of the regular season. Let’s say I get (the splint) off the 15th (then) I have three weeks until the opening game in Dallas. It should be enough time to get myself back into shape with the left arm and shooting pucks.”
Again, as I’ve said in blogs in the past, we’ll see what happens when the day gets here. At least these comments are from the man himself.
Also the Hawks have signed yet ANOTHER player to a one year contract. (Seriously, what is that about 8 guys?) The latest in the off season (which is going on forever) is another forward signing right wing Brandon Segal to a one-year deal. It’s another player that I really know very little about, NHL wise., but here’s what I read. Segal spent last season splitting time with the Dallas Stars and their minor-league affiliate the Texas Stars. He had five goals and five assists in 46 games with Dallas.
