Montreal Fires Assistant Coach Pearn

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager, Pierre Gauthier, announced Wednesday that assistant coach Perry Pearn has been relieved of his duties.

“I want to thank Perry Pearn for his contribution to the Canadiens’ organization over the past three years. He remains a very knowledgeable coach with a strong work ethic and is a true professional. I offered Perry to remain with the organization in a different role,” said Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier.

Perry Pearn joined the Canadiens organization as an assistant coach on July 6, 2009. This was his third season with the club. A native of Stettler, Alberta, Pearn made his NHL debut as an assistant coach with the Winnipeg Jets in 1995-96.

I do believe Pearn and Martin go way back, so there may be more to this…

This sounds like the Beginning of the blood letting in Montreal not the end & as we saw in Pgh. nothing goes into the PP or PK without the HC’s OK !

I can’t really speak for Pearn’s work with the Habs but he used to be assistant coach for the Rangers.  They would always be interviewing him between periods and whatnot and he always came across as an arrogant SOB.

Wow Chris, could not disagree more. In his time with Ottawa he was extremely well liked and respected. Very pleasant in interviews.

This move is BUSH league crap.

Disagree with Chris on that too.  He seemed knowledgeable, and frustrated.  Montreal will continue to fail so long as Scotty “the smirk” Gomez is on their roster.
