Montreal Trades Zack Kassian To Edmonton For Ben Scrivens

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced the acquisition of goaltender Ben Scrivens from the Edmonton Oilers on Monday in return for forward Zack Kassian.

Scrivens, 29, displays a 2-6-1 record in 10 games thus far this season with the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors, along with a 3.47 goals against average and a .893 save percentage.

The 6’2’’ and 181 lb goaltender shows a 42-56-17 record with seven shutouts in 129 career regular season games in the NHL. A native of Spruce Grove, Alberta, he has maintained a 2.90 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. In the NHL, Scrivens has suited up for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Kings and Oilers.

A product of the ECAC’s Cornell Big Red, Scrivens registered a 65-37-13 record in 117 games at the collegiate level. He completed 19 shutouts and displayed a 1.93 goals against average.

The 24-year old Kassian registered one goal and 13 penalty minutes in five pre-season games with the Canadiens. The Windsor, Ontario native was acquired by the Canadiens from the Vancouver Canucks in return for Brandon Prust on July 1, 2015.
