• The 27-year-old civilian contractor at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and his wife, Pam, had just moved into a new home in Fairborn and he was in the process of converting the basement family room into his own museum/sports den. He'd matted and framed the 200-plus hockey autographs in his collection — including everything from a Miracle on Ice team photo with every player's signature to a letter signed by Lord Stanley of Stanley Cup fame — and planned to hang them on the wall alongside his signed hockey sticks and jerseys. • He'd bought the NHL Center Ice package and every night he planned to sit back and watch a game or two on his big screen TV. • He was coaching a 7 and 8-year olds' hockey team, was helping coach the Beavercreek High School hockey team and might even play for a glorified Huff 'n Puff adult team this winter.
