Some Cap relief for the Leafs going towards the deadline…

Don’t see the upside for the Oilers. Fraser has been a spare part (at best) on defence and overpaid for what he brings to the table (mostly facepunching ability), and a UFA at the end of the season.

Maybe the Oilers need to get clear their reserve list?

Obviously they’re gearing up for a playoff run, duh.

Leafs also need to clear space for Bolland to come back from LTIR.

I recently asked my father to explain the actions of a peer of mine because I just couldn’t wrap my mind around why they had done something they had and he has more experience in the field than I ever hope to.  His response was, “Sometimes you’re better of not understanding.”

I feel like that applies to the Oilers.

Actually, this is what the Oilers need.  They are soft as a stick of butter on the sidewalk in July, especially on D.  This is not a move about more wins this season, this is a move about having another player who could be on the ice when say Lucic tries to run one of the kids tomorrow…as one example.
