McKee Sees Free Agency Ahead

This could be Jay McKee's final playoff push with the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo's longest-tenured player will be an unrestricted free agent after the season. Based on the club's policy of not entertaining contract extensions while games are being played, McKee has trouble being optimistic about his return. The veteran defenseman said he would prefer to stay, but admitted it would be difficult for the Sabres to retain him once he hits the open market. The longer the Sabres are silent, the more loudly money talks.
