May As Well Start The Early Trade Talk

from Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger,
It is a long way to the NHL’s March 3 trade deadline and defenseman Scott Niedermayer is hoping that the Ducks are in a playoff position by then.
But what if the Ducks, who ranked 14th out of 15 Western Conference teams as they prepared to face the Devils Wednesday night at the Prudential Center, were floundering as the deadline approached? It is not inconceivable that Niedermayer could be traded back to his former club for another shot at a Stanley Cup with brother Rob.
“I think it’s a possibility,” Niedermayer said of being traded by the Ducks at some point this season. “Last year we were kind of a in a situation where we were teetering and there was some talk and rumors. You start to think about it.
“But I’m not thinking about that right now. Our goal right now is to do well on this road trip, to play good hockey and get into the playoff picture and compete with this team. When those bridges come, I’ll deal with them.”
