Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cooke received a major penalty, a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct for boarding Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid. As the CBC's Glenn Healy posited after the fact, McQuaid peeked over his shoulder, saw Cooke coming and chose to turn toward the boards to play the puck, but this is still textbook boarding-into-the-numbers and it's still a completely unnecessary hit:
The fact that McQuaid returned makes the likelihood of a supplemental discipline slim to nil.
