Marco Scandella Headed To Buffalo From Minnesota

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired forwards Tyler Ennis (pronounced EH-nihs) and Marcus Foligno (pronounced foh-LEE-noh) and a third-round selection in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for forward Jason Pominville, defenseman Marco Scandella and a fourth-round selection in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

"I want to thank Jason and Marco for the effort, passion and character they showed during their time with our club and wish them the best in Buffalo," said Fletcher.

Ennis, 27 (10/6/89), tallied 13 points (5-8=13) in 51 games with the Sabres last season. He missed 30 contests due to a groin injury. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, owns 236 points (97-139=236) in 419 career NHL games during eight seasons with the Sabres (2009-17). He has added eight points (3-5=8) in 13 Stanley Cup playoff matches. Ennis won a gold medal playing for Canada at the 2015 World Championship and the 2010 World Junior Championship and was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team in 2010. He was originally selected by Buffalo in the first round (26th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Foligno, 26 (4/10/91), recorded 23 points (13-10=23) and 73 penalty minutes (PIM) in 80 games with Buffalo last season and ranked fifth in the NHL with a career-high 279 hits. He also set career highs in goals and blocked shots (57). The 6-foot-3, 228-pound native of Buffalo, N.Y., owns 116 points (49-67=116), 334 PIM and 1,023 hits in 347 career NHL contests during six seasons with the Sabres (2011-17). Foligno won a silver medal playing for Canada at the 2011 World Junior Championship. He was originally selected by Buffalo in the fourth round (104th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Pominville, 34 (11/30/82), totaled 206 points (76-130=206) and 40 PIM in 327 games during parts of five seasons with Minnesota (2013-17). The 6-foot, 181-pound native of Repentigny, Quebec, was originally selected by Buffalo in the second round (55th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and recorded 456 points (185-271=456) and 147 PIM in 578 games with the Sabres (2005-13).

Scandella, 27 (2/23/90), totaled 89 points (27-62=89) and 148 PIM in 373 games during parts of seven seasons with the Wild (2010-17). The 6-foot-3, 208-pound defenseman from Montreal, Quebec, registered 13 points (4-9=13) and 25 PIM in 71 games for Minnesota in 2016-17. He was originally selected by Minnesota in the second round (55th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
