Sure, Adam Porchetti has been in the Phoenix Coyotes locker room and has been backstage at various concerts as facilities manager for Glendale Arena. But when he really wants to impress people, he utters this magic phrase: "I drive the Zamboni." Porchetti climbs behind the wheel of the ice-resurfacing behemoth and maneuvers skillfully upon the rink, taking care not to make the One Great Zamboni Mistake - slamming into, and damaging, the boards. There are smaller Zamboni mistakes, like setting the blade too low and gouging the ice or missing a patch or two while circling. But hitting the boards at up to 5 mph, the Zamboni's cruising speed along the straightaways, is hard to cover.
