From the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’s Rob Rossi:
The youngest captain of a Stanley Cup champion apparently needs to win over NHL writers and players, but not members of his organization.
Penguins center Sidney Crosby finished third in voting for the Hart Trophy (MVP) to Vancouver Canucks center and NHL scoring leader Henrik Sedin, who also bested Crosby for a spot on the NHL’s first All-Star team.
The Hart and All-Star teams are voted on by select members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

Its really quite simple: nobody likes a cry baby (no matter how skilled they are).

So the media loves him and pushes him down everyone throats. They also won’t vote for him because he’s a crybaby even though he’s won the awards in the past.
Interesting….

Sedin had an amazing year. Teams on the west coast are often underestimated because people in the east rarely stay awake to see their games.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. Is it really so shocking that somebody other than Crosby or AO could have an MVP season? Henrik had an outstading regular season. He was basically Mr. Everything for the Cancuks for large chunks of the season. He very much deserves the kudos coming his way.

@FlyersFan
The Pittsburgh Trib sent a reporter to Vegas to cover the awards. Why shouldn’t they cover the Pittsburgh athlete? Would you rather them cover Shane Doan’s King Clancy Award?

Even though I’m not particularly interested in hockey awards (or the HoF for that matter), and one shouldn’t discount awards for goalscoring and leadership, the thought “clueless idiots” did cross my mind after reading this.
