If Donald MacLean wants a full-time job in the National Hockey League, he'll have to impress greatness to get it. The 29-year-old Bedford resident has signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Phoenix Coyotes, who are coached by The Great One, Wayne Gretzky. MacLean and his agent, Anton Thun, were in conversation with several teams, including Detroit. The Red Wings, however, bowed out early. "They didn't really show too much interest at all. They're a larger market team looking for the bigger fish," MacLean said. "I think (it was teams) that we're looking for potentially a cheap guy who could score. There were a few teams out there.more Instead of pointing to "scheduling" stories today, I thought I would pick out a few of the lesser known signings...Which also means hockey writers are planning their vacation right about now...
