Sounds like more than a coincidence.

Vaccines do NOT prevent you from bringing the virus with you to work. It may, or may not, prevent you from getting sick.

Sounds like you’re trying to create a scenario that doesn’t exist to be mad about. We call this “conveniently outraged”.

His words say one thing, yet he does the opposite…

Thankfully the CDC Study they just did (in which the CDC actually believes this data helps their case) shows the death rate for 18-49 (looks like a “coincidence” they just grouped 33 years of people together instead of segmenting every 10 year as normal) shows the death rate is 0.018%

https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7037e1.htm?s_cid=mm7037e1_whttps://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7037e1.htm?s_cid=mm7037e1_w&

You can scroll down to see the chart.

Maybe we should keep the articles about hockey and less about science & data people don’t understand. I wont even go into the hypocrisy of NBA/MLB players doing what they want or Hollywood elite going to parties with no masks as all the staff wear them.

Vaccines unequivocally reduce your chances to contract the virus because they help your body fight off the virus via increased immune response. If two people are exposed to the virus under the same conditions the vaccinated person is drastically less likely to become infected. Infections are what lead towards more transmissions.

There is no doubt, the statistics simply do not lie, that vaccines decrease transmissions as well as symptomatic and serious illness.

Three represented by one agent, out of “single digits” in the entire league
not being vaccinated does raise eyebrows.

Why is it not reasonable to wonder if it’s more than a coincidence?

Coincidences happen plenty in life. Maybe there’s nothing to it.
But it’s a reasonable question to ask. Especially when one of our
players is among those three.

It’s also reasonable to point out that the player seems to be putting a lot of
weight on not wanting to impact his teammates or team - as well as his own and
everyone’s health. Unless he has some personal risk factor that might make these vaccine more potentially dangerous, in general, there is much much more risk of a) getting infected without a vaccine and much more likely to suffer severe symptoms even as a young, healthy athlete, than via a still very very rare side effect to be vaccinated.

If he was already infected and has some real immunity already and/or doesn’t want to get vaccinated or can’t soon after, or if he has some medical or other reason to be exempt we might have heard about it. Maybe not, as that’s his business. But it wouldn’t be unusual for a player to explain if those reasons played into this.
How many NHL players and prospects suffering severe covid cases and bad long haul symptoms do we have to read about it before it’s understood it’s not so rare for even this fittest of cohorts to get really sick.

As for other leagues whose policies do not by definition govern NHL players - let alone celebrities and politicians whose hypocrisy (re: masks btw not vaccines) makes everyone angry, yes let’s not go there. This post is about the NHL and NHL players.

To be clearer, I am referring of course to NHL players and prospects
who got very sick from covid and/or had bad long haul symptoms from covid
- before vaccines were widely available.

How many have had severe cases and/or had long haul symptoms? I remember Marco Rossi last year but can’t find any other names. Google searches bring back the Canucks outbreak where 21 guys got it and “In a couple iof instances, dehydration was severe enough that the canucks dispatched medical staff to administer IV drips to players in their homes” but I’m not seeing anything come back on players actually being hospitalized or still suffering from long covid.

Rasmus Ristolainen and Tomas Hertl came up quickly as two more prominent
players who describe pretty harrowing symptoms and in Hertl’s case
infecting his wife and young son, the latter who fortunately as with virtually all
children, was not so badly affected. Of course Vancouver had a few problems in terms of roster construction, but their teamwide infection is widely regarded as crashing their season. The direct health concerns are worse, but contracting covid and risking a comparatively rare but still possible breakthrough infection among teammates and staff is pretty bad, too.

I’m sure scanning a few more pages of results would bring up more players.
I just searched “NHL players covid symptoms”. So prospects and players in other leagues and in college aren’t included.

Vaccines unequivocally reduce your chances to contract the virus

Yeah unfortunately data from the highest vaccinated countries tells a different story.

Singapore and Israel now have higher case/hospitalizations than when everything first started. Weird how that happens?

This happens because the way the shots were created, they only target 1 specific spike protein that evolves, so when the virus does evolve, the current vaccines provide the most support from the original strain, which we are no longer being exposed to.

Which is why you see “breakthrough cases” more and more frequently and the highest vaccinated countries are now seeing high case numbers.

It’s all “educated” guesswork at this point.

At best, the vaccine acts as a symptom suppressant. Because you can get infected and you can spread the virus even if you got the shot.

This is the reality. Anything outside of this is your emotional attachment to an ambiguous grandiose idea of how you want reality to be.

I would recommend actually reading the studies and then seeing what politicians and directors say. There’s a reason why the FDA provided their guidance and then the CDC decided they didn’t like it and so they provided their own guidance based on personal opinion, not on “science”.

I think people should keep the conversations to hockey on a hockey site and stop making up nonsense that they don’t have a rudimentary understanding on.

Nobody said things don’t evolve and change. You’re comparing apples to oranges. Yes, can some vaccines lose efficacy over time? Of course. But even a reduction in efficacy still comes with some Varying level of protection.

At best, the vaccine acts as a symptom suppressant.

Again, this is wrong. At best this statement is a symptom of misinformation, at worst a product of disinformation. While vaccines can and do reduce symptoms in some transmissions they have been unequivocally shown to reduce transmissions, reduce serious illness, reduce hospitalizations and most importantly reduce deaths.

It’s all “educated” guesswork at this point.

Im guessing you haven’t spent decades of your live dedicated to education and research.

Anything outside of this is your emotional attachment to an ambiguous grandiose idea of how you want reality to be.

Ironically this is an emotionally charged response. Most likely a product of your fear.

I think people should keep the conversations to hockey on a hockey site and stop making up nonsense that they don’t have a rudimentary understanding on.

Again, ironic coming from the person who spent more time than anyone spewing your non hockey related cult talking points.

Good luck with all your nonsense. LGRW!

Ok, then to answer your previous question

How many NHL players and prospects suffering severe covid cases and bad long haul symptoms do we have to read about it before it’s understood it’s not so rare for even this fittest of cohorts to get really sick.

more than 3 in a sample size of 800+.  Especially considering all three of the guys that “got really sick” are back on the ice skating with their teams in prospect and preseason games.

I’m vaccinated. I support getting vaccinated. I also support honesty about who is affected and how, as well as what results the vaccines actually produce.
