Luongo Meets The Vancouver Media

from Steve Ewen of the Vancouver Province,

The Vancouver Canucks goaltender fired off a tweet from his @strombone1 handle on Thursday, proclaiming “Can’t wait to see all my friends tomorrow! All are welcome!” It featured a picture of himself in the middle of a  media scrum.

Sure enough, 20 or so newspaper, radio, television and blogger types showed up at UBC to get a word with Luongo after an on-ice workout featuring the vast majority of the Canucks....

He was also asked, “Do you to be a Canuck?” He didn’t answer in the direct affirmative. Read into that what you will, but there didn’t seem to be a negative tone to his overall message.

He replied: “I’ve said all along that I want to play. Right now, I have that opportunity. I want to take advantage of that. I want to win some games and go as far as we can and hopefully try to win the Stanley Cup. It’s a big year for me. I’ve been sitting on the bench for awhile and I want to show everybody what I can do. We all know it’s an Olympic year. I want to make the best of it.”
