Lucic On The Incident In Vancouver

from Joe Haggerty of CSNNE,

The Vancouver native called the incident “an unprovoked attack” and said that he’s following up on with the authorities in his hometown. He also expressed exasperation at the treatment he’s received there over the last few years.

He said he was struck once inside a nightclub, and then outside a nightclub when “he was trying to get food.”

The only “no comment” he gave was when he was asked whether the assailant said anything about him being a member of the Bruins before striking him, but otherwise the B’s power forward was as candid as always.

“I was part of an unprovoked attack on Saturday night where I was punched in the face on two separate occasions," said Lucic, who explained that he did not know his attacker. "There was no reason for him to punch me. From this point forward we’re exploring this in a legal manner. That’s as much as I can say about it right now.

“It sucks to be in that situation, but you’ve got to take ownership of it and that it happened because you were in that situation. We came off a good road trip, and wanted to go out and blow off some steam . . . have a little fun. Unfortunately it ended the way it did, and hopefully it’s not a distraction to the team any further after today.”

A guy I know used to live in the Muskegon area.  He told me a few years ago he was in a bar around there and Abdelkader was there.  Everyone was pretty relaxed and Abs was just having a drink with a couple friends up at the bar when some guy just walked up to Abs and punched him in the side of the head near the ear.  He said Abdelkader just looked at the guy and the guy walked away.  The guy who told me the story said Abs looked pissed, but just sort of shrugged his shoulders.

I wonder how often this kind of thing happens - maybe some guys just want to be able to tell their buddies they punched a tough hockey player.  Dumb.

Lucic might want to stay out of the clubs in Vancouver. They hate Boston, has he forgotten that they rioted and trashed their downtown after the loss? He is a fool if he thinks he can avoid this stuff in Vancouver.

he was acting like a douchebag king of the world.  My friend was there at the club, and he was goating people on and acting like a bully.  ONe guy came up to him and sucker punched him after, and he started screaming u know who the fuk i am blah blah blah.  Lets get this straight, Lucic was the douchebag here.  He was with a whole group of his friends from highschool and they were going around and acting all big and cocky.
