As NYI Point Blank‘s Chris Botta first reported, the Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired goaltender Dwayne Roloson from the New York Islanders in exchange for defenseman Ty Wishart.
The Tampa Tribune‘s Erik Erlendsson and others have since confirmed.
Roloson joins Dan Ellis, the injured Mike Smith and upstart rookie Cedrick Desjardins (1st star in tonight’s win over the Rangers and 2-0-0 with two goals against in two starts) in Tampa’s goaltending ranks.
Four’s a crowd.
[UPDATE: According to ESPN 1040’s Mike Corcoran, Desjardins will be returned to AHL Norfolk.]

...THEY DID THIS ONE GAME TOO LATE!
In response to the Lightning’s flagrantly belated move, #19 has been removed from the banners at the Joe. ![]()

You guys know damn well that if the Islanders had put in an AHL caliber backup it would have been a shutout, not an OT loss.

Zactly my thoughts, too, Chris.
Heck of an acquisition by Yzerman.

Exactly. Roloson doesn’t seem to age. He’s a hell of a goalie, still somehow.

I can’t be the only one who laughed that this story was broken by someone whose media credentials were yanked by the same team making the deal. Funny. ![]()
Good move for Tampa. Roloson is steady as a rock, and exactly what a team looks for in “reliable veteran presence in goal.” Nice to see him have another chance in the playoffs, too.

Great move for the Lightning.
Gotta feel for the Islanders’ fans (if there are any left) the team is finally winning some games and they trade the person that was making that happen.
