Let’s Kill Another Made-Up Rumor

via Pierre LeBrun of ESPN,

J.P. Dumont of the Nashville Predators was a healthy scratch for the second time in three games Sunday, prompting rampant trade rumors in cyberspace that linked him to both the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.

That was news to Preds GM David Poile.

“There’s no truth to any of it,” Poile told ESPN.com. “J.P. has a no-movement clause and I haven’t spoken to him about it.”

I believe the statement was that Dumont would be willing to waive NTC to go to Montreal/Toronto; not that Poile asked Dumont.  Dumont could havbe easily told someone from the media that he would if asked.  The Sportnet rumour that was supposedly squashed ended up being true yesterday…
