Let The Corey Perry To Toronto Talk Begin

from Damien Cox of The Spin,

We're waiting for the first big move by Dave Nonis as GM of the Maple Leafs.

It might have to be a really big one.

See, if it turns out, as is being widely speculated, that the Anaheim Ducks can afford to keep only one their dynamic duo, Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, and that Getzlaf is the one most likely to get the new long-term deal from the Ducks, then Perry could be available before the April 3rd trade deadline.

If that's the case and Perry hits the trade market, it's a competition the Leafs must be in.

Perry - who registered a nice three-assist effort in an Anaheim win over Nashville last night - isn't a perfect fit for the Leafs, a team desperate for a No. 1 centre. But he competes like hell, is a former Hart Trophy winner and the proud owner of a Stanley Cup ring. He'll be 28 in May, not too old to still be a dominant player for years to come.

He's the kind of player who could transform the Leafs in a way it was once believed Phil Kessel could, but clearly never will.

Since ‘09, Perry has been the better player. It’s splitting hairs… they are very close. But goals are worth more than assists, and Perry has been a markedly better goal scorer than Getzlaf. The wild card is, there’s no real good way to judge just how good Getzlaf would be without Perry firing his passes home, or just how good Perry would be without Getzlaf’s size and passing skill creating opportunities for him.

Toronto would have a great team if every player that was endlessly speculated to sign with the team actually did.

Who needs a playmaking centre when you can go out and get another scoring winger?

They’d have a great regular season team before Luongo choked in the playoffs.

...he competes like hell, is a former Hart Trophy winner and is one of the biggest douchebags in the league.

There. Fixed.

All I can say about the trade rumor is “Please don’t let it be true.” If the Wings do move to the East next year, the last thing I want to see is Corey Fairy cheap-shotting Wings players six times a year.

I have had an unnatural desire to see Corey Perry as a Wing for at least a couple of seasons now. I don’t give a flying anything for any flack I’ll get from fellow Wing’s fans either.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

Yeah, with Anaheims slow start and sure to miss the playoffs of course they’re trying to mov..  wait?  They’re actually doing good?  But Toronto thinks they’re going to ship out their top scorer?

Please tell me real fans don’t believe shit like this.
