Leonsis Does Not Agree With Ovechkin Suspension

from Ted Leonsis of Ted’s Take,
I do not agree in any way with the suspension of Alex Ovechkin for 3 games. I support Alex Ovechkin. He is our bedrock player – our Captain; and he and his family know that we are always here to support him.
The decision has been made; and George McPhee will address the media today with our thoughts and concerns about the suspension.
While there is a lot of emotion and concern today – we have a game to play tonight against perhaps the best team in the league and we then have 2 games on the road against division foes, after the All Star game.
Tonight – we will play without Alex Ovechkin, Mike Green and Nick Backstrom. These are our three best players and represent a third of our payroll; there is simply no way short term to make up their productivity unless other players step up – and we must be focused on winning and not on being shorthanded. Our team mentality must and will stay positive.

Thanks for the update Ted, got anything else burning up the news wire to tell us?

Leonsis should pay more attention. Every other guy who lept into an opponent’s head got either 3 or 5 games. Most of them didn’t have OVs record either. I, for one, am glad his status as “Bedrock player” didn’t absolve him.

Hey Ted….maybe you should try to teach your player how to play right while supporting him. Time after time we hear this garbage from you. You would have a lot more credibility had you come out and said that yes Ovechkin deserved a suspension and that Mikalek did too. That I can respect rather than living in your little fishbowl and blindly supporting your players no matter what. Sometimes you just need to stop yourself before you blog.

And there’s the other really annoying part. Quit the whining. Every team has injuries and sometimes they overlap with suspensions and really leave a team shorthanded. Ask Pittsburgh and Edmonton what it’s like to play without a lot of big names for long stretches. Every team goes through it at some point. For some reason, most don’t feel the need to moan and groan about it publicly.
This is an organization that lacks professionalism and it really starts at the top.

Hey Ted, your boy refuses to change…maybe you should disagree with that.
