Lecavalier Not Happy With Malkin

from Damian Cristodero tweets,

Lightning’s Lecavalier left arena without talking to reporters. Coach Boucher said he believes Lecavalier thought Malkin went for his knees

Malkin told Pittsburgh reporters he was ducking to protect himself from a check.. “I wanted to save myself,” Malkin said.

Near the end of the video below, you will see Malkin ducking on a check from Lecavalier.

Going for his knees?  Really?

Malkin ducks under checks like this along the boards routinely.  I think Vinny was a little butt hurt that Geno took over the game seconds after Moore started chirping him in the faceoff circle.  Geno had enough and he finished them.

Malkin should do that more often before they have to hash things out on the golf course in April.

Unlike the Marchand incident which was converging contact, this is a good dodge on a poorly delivered hit.  I feel like that was more boiling frustration with the Bolts overall play, and this incident was just a trigger.

hey paul, how about the damn sucker punch by vinny?  As a matter of fact, i have been checking this site for the past 3 hours after the game waiting to see if you would post it.  I know for a fact if it was a penguin it would have been posted within 30 minutes.

Of course you went a completely different way with the story and decided the real story was that Malkin ducked from getting hit, and that somehow was Malkin being cheap.

Here is the cheap shot.  vinny cheap shot

not sure how shanny can let something like that go… that is beyond cheap… then again, it is stevie y’s captain… so maybe they can just suspend cooke instead.

The “hit” was nothing, as people are saying…
But check the replay on the scrum. LeCavalier was following and talking to Malkin, when Malkin decides do backcheck into lecavalier.. As far as I can tell, Its malkins fault the scrum ever happened
And, as usual, the refs stay on the penguin’s side of stuff, but hey, of course its only a conspiracy!!!!!!!!11112354

Hey, moron, how about the completally unnecessary hit malkin threw at Lecavalier for no reason at all, BEFORE the so called “cheap shot” ????

Oh yeah, I forgot, malkin can do whatever he wants, like when he wanted to start a faight just after a finals game, and NOT get the automatic suspension, RIGHT?????

Not to call anyone names, but Zqto is spot on. Vinny is pissed, the Bolts are pissed, Malkin didn’t do anything wrong ducking to avoid the hit, but yes, after Vinny probably snipped at him and wacked him right after his poorly delivered hit, Malkin has to go and hit him? Meh…boys will be boys and both are equally ‘dirty’ in this.

gtl, if you think that sucker punch is suspendable, I am not sure you will understand what I am about to wrie.

I posted the video because of what Vinny thought about it, no where am I saying that Malkin tried to take his knees out.

If you noticed, I even said he ducked the hit.

If you really want people to know about the punch, you should have posted it in the members section, it does hit the KK homepage and get the fans opinion.

What a sad and salty tear that this blog is not biased towards the Pens, but is somewhat objective.

somehow was Malkin being cheap.

Where in the hell do you read this from Paul?  This is absolutely ridiculous. The level of whining is reaching epic proportions.

As for the actual play in question? Yeah, Malkin ducked under the check; it was a good move avoiding a hit. Lecavalier should be looking at supplemental discipline for the way he lost his composure and delivered a Lucic-level suckerpunch in a scrum he had no good reason to start.

not sure why the name calling.

anyways, if you watch the pens feed you will see that vinny actually goes after malkin first after malkin ducks the hit.  the bolts feed does not really show it, but you can hear the announcers say “vinny and malkin jarring at eachother.  Vinny would like a shot at him, but Malkin would have none of that…”

To say Malkin somehow threw an unnessary hit is a little far fetched.  Vinny was chasing him around the ice after the dodged hit.

Yeah, he got in a good shot there. Wouldn’t be the first time that happened in a scrum. And lets be fair here, they both got shots in when the mob started to form, and it was Malkin’s sudden stop and check away from the play that turned this from talk to physical.

What the video posted on topic pls… LeCavalier doesnt do ANYTHING at all against Malkin, until after Malkin throws his back into Lecavalier

Seriously, how the heck do you think Malkin’s hit on Lecavalier just before the scrum was warranted?!??
Did you at least watch the replay??
Do you think its ok if people start throwing thenselves at the others, after play, whenever they talk something at each other?

What’s your point here, exactly, because it sure cant be “Lecavalier started it” after whatcing the video… If its that, then you are just a stupid troll

not true.  Vinny intiated the physical stuff after the dodging of the hit along the boards, as well as near the blue line in the penguins defensive zone.  Malkin skated away through the neutral zone into the offensive zone and back out with Vinny chirping behind him.  Malkin probably figured he was going to exibit more physical stuff from behind… but who knows what malkin was thinking at the time.  But to say Malkin turned the situation from talk to physical is not accurate.

I’m just still so mad that Paul didn’t write this up as a story about Malkin throwing the back of his shoulder into Vinny Lecavalier in self-defense.

If this was written about any other team in the league, that would be the story.  What bias!

not real sure what the deal is, but i think you first need to understand when people do not agree with you, and you use name calling in your argument, you basically lose from the begining.

to say vinny is not the one who initated contact throughout the entire 2 minute situation is no accurate.  Vinny began with the attempted hit +1; then slashed malkin after malkin dodged the hit +1; then cross-checked malkin at the blue line in the pens zone +1; then follwed malkin who did not have the puck out into the neutral zone, where malkin threw a backwards check into vinny -1

perhaps you need to re-watch the video as well as re-read your posts prior to posting?

Malkin skated away through the neutral zone into the offensive zone and back out with Vinny chirping behind him.

Right, cause chirping is physical. Sticks and stones.

Malkin probably figured he was going to exibit more physical stuff from behind/quote]

Therefore his action is justified. Gimme a break.

But to say Malkin turned the situation from talk to physical is not accurate.

You just said he did yourself. Vinny was out of line, but Malkin is not blameless here.

well you are ignoring all the other physical stuff i mentioned.  to say malkin was the one who someone converted this into the physcial stuff is a little magical.  if this was not a stevie y led organization, and perhaps was big joe thorton instead of the great captain vinny, perhaps wing fans would be singing a different tune.  i find it a little funny.

I did not watch the game, I know, big surprised. But I’m not ignoring anything. The only replay I have is that above. Maybe there were slashes and crosschecks, but that’s all out of frame on the video above. If true, I’m wrong and I apologize. But again, Malkin is no martyr and is just as guilty for dirty stuff at the end as Vinny. It’s a hockey game, this crap happens all the time, and none of it was so dirty as to need special discipline.

But go ahead and jump to conclusions that I believe Vinny is a great captain and really care about the Bolts organization all due to the presence of Yzerman. I won’t stop you and probably couldn’t if I tried.

LeCavalier and his Lightening are becoming quite the whinging little bunch.  Pretty soon, they’ll start crying foul whenever they get scored on.

Exactly… there’s nothing in that video, apart from the original missed hit, showing Lecavalier getting physical with Malkin, before malkin hits him back…

Not a fan of either team so there’s no bias here. Fact is Malkin dodged a hit. Lecavalier had nothing to be upset about. Lecavalier got frustrated and appears to skate after Malkin after the play. It’s obvious Lecavalier is saying something to Malkin as he’s skating behind him. Malkin takes exception, turned, and gave him a hit. This happens all the time people. Nothing to cry about. If Vinny looks back at the video it’s clear Malkin wasn’t trying to even touch him. Vinny just got caught up in frustration.

People like you are why everyone else thinks Pens fans are a joke.  Learn to read or… or something.  God.  The stupidity here is off the charts, even for a Pens-related topic.

At no point did Paul show any bias towards anything.  It’s called “unbiased reporting”, just stating what happened and then offering video evidence.  Not that you, as a Pens fan, would have any idea what that is, since I’ve seen and heard the complete assclowns your team trots out as “announcers”.

Anyhow, this was absolutely childish of Lecavalier.  It’s quite obvious Malkin was simply avoiding a check.  The angle wasn’t even such that Malkin could have really gone for his legs—Vinny came in from about a 90 degree angle with the boards right there, not an angle coducive to taking anyone out at the legs.  Nor did Malkin even stick any part of himself out to initiate.  Rather, he shrank back… because he was avoiding the hit to continue the play.

Stuff like this pretty much sums up Lecavalier’s career.  He’s a child at times, a disappointment of untapped potential who never has managed to actually be even the best player on his own team ( Richards, St. Louis, Stamkos…), let alone an actual true superstar in the league.  He sees the writing on the wall and the fact that his team stinks, and he basically threw a stupid temper tantrum so he wouldn’t have to play out a game where his team got its ass beat by one single opposing player.  His heart and commitment is so questionable, I’m honestly surprised the Lightning have kept him around this long.
