from Terry Koshan of Leafs Now at the Toronto Sun,
The Maple Leafs will make a handful of final cuts before their regular-season opener on Oct. 6.
Defenceman Mike Komisarek won’t be among them.
There had been talk through last season and during the summer that the Leafs should bury the contract of Komisarek in the minors.
The 29-year-old will cost the Leafs a salary cap hit of $4.5 million US for each of the next three seasons. In his first two years with the Leafs, Komisarek struggled.
But a new training regimen during the off-season has resulted in a quicker Komisarek in the exhibition games. Leafs coach Ron Wilson and general manager Brian Burke have made it fairly clear this week that Komisarek will not be going to the Marlies.

If what we’ve heard is true about his play, then I’m all for it. If it’s the same old pylon trick, I hope they change their minds fast.
