Landon Ferraro was a goal scoring machine for the Red Deer Rebels during the 2008-09 season which prompted the Detroit Red Wings to take him with their first choice in the 2009 NHL Draft. Since then, he has struggled.
Blame injuries, blame a falling out with his old team, blame whatever you want, the kid struggled. After being traded to the Everett Silvertips, he was named team captain. Still, his luck didn’t improve. At the halfway point of the season, he wasn’t even on pace to score 20 goals. Everett struggled, and a lot of their fans pulled out the pitch forks and torches as they demanded Ferraro be traded. Instead, Everett picked up Ryan Harrison from the Medicine Hat Tigers. Harrison has played three games for the Silvertips, and already has 5 points and is +4. Ferraro has 8 points his last 5 games and has moved up to even in +/- since the addition of Harrison.
Some players make everyone around them better. Some are only at their best when they play next to certain people. That could prove to be the situation with Landon Ferraro, but for now, he seems to be steering the ship in the right direction.
