via the Thrashers PR department,
The Atlanta Thrashers have named forward Andrew Ladd as the eighth team captain in franchise history, according to Head Coach Craig Ramsay. Additionally, defensemen Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom have been named the team’s alternate captains.
“Andrew has earned this distinction with a high level of commitment to his play and to his teammates,” said Ramsay. “Along with Andrew, Dustin and Toby have set the tone for our club with their on-ice leadership and deserve this opportunity.”
Ladd, 24, currently leads the Thrashers with 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 19 games during his first season in Atlanta. He leads team forwards with 18:50 of ice time per game and tied his career-high with points in six straight games (three goals, five assists) from Oct. 15 to Oct. 27.
The 6-3, 205-pound left wing has recorded 167 points (70 goals, 97 assists) in 340 career NHL games with Carolina, Chicago and Atlanta. Ladd has also earned 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) in 53 post-season games, while capturing two Stanley Cup Championships (2006 with Carolina and 2010 with Chicago).
