from Ansar Khan of Mlive,
Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall had athroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday morning. Doctors discovered a lateral meniscus tear.
Kronwall is expected to be idled for two weeks but should be ready to skate at the start of training camp Sept. 18 in Traverse City.

Well the good news, it was lateral?
I don’t like that Nik has had so many knee problems. Not one bit.

Hey look…almost made it to noon before drinking.
Almost.

This is good news in the long run, better that they looked and found the problem and now can appropriately plan to get it fixed instead of letting it linger.
The Wings are almost always very conservative with their injury estimates, so I’d say if they are telling us he’ll be ready for camp, he’ll be ready. And big deal if he misses part of it. Honestly, he’s a pro, his talent will get him through the first 10 games of the season as he lets his conditioning catch up.

Seriously, this is fantastic news. Not only does it explain exactly what the problem with the knee was, but the problem was also something that probably isn’t drastic enough to cost him serious playing time this season.
