Kings Change Official Team Colors

From the LA Kings:

Beginning this season the Los Angeles Kings will officially make the following changes as it pertains to team colors and uniforms, the team announced today:

—The Kings’ official team colors change to black, silver and white.
—The Kings’ primary home uniform switches to the black-silver-and-white uniform the club has worn as an alternate jersey the last two seasons.
—The Kings will wear a newly-created white version of this jersey for all road games this season.

Said Kings President, Business Operations Luc Robitaille: “There was an overwhelming sentiment from our fans and from our players that has led us to this change.  Our fans really like the late 80s and early 90s era Kings uniforms which are very similar to this uniform.  As a player, the colors give you an attitude and an edge.  Dean Lombardi and I talked a lot about it with the players and they love it.  We feel our fans believe in it as well.”

As part of the switch, the Kings’ former primary mark, a Crown featuring the color purple, now becomes the club’s alternate logo with one change – the Crown is now black and silver and features no purple.  The Kings will wear these jerseys (unaltered from a year ago) for select home games.

I prefer the purple.

That’s lame. The purple was cool. Do they want to be the Raiders on ice? I guess they could acquire Cooke from the Pens and see if Danton wants to cut out of his Euro contract. Maybe Avery wants back to since he already has a house in LA.

Wish they’d stick to the awesome vintage purple and gold.

Good move. Plus, that crown emblem is hyperbolic.

Do they want to be the Raiders on ice?

The fans of the Raiders define that organization more than their colors. The San Antonio Spurs have they exact colors, yet they’re pretty quiet.

What is this the 83rd time they’ve changed their uniforms? Pick a look and stick with it.  (Preferably last seasons crown slapped on the gretzky-era jerseys)

No !!! the reason teams go to black is because the gang Bangers love black
sick thus sell more merchandise

Oh, ok, then there definitely won’t be any purple & Gold “third” jersey around christmas shopping season?

I don’t begrudge the kings from making money with multiple jerseys, but be honest with the public….....It’s a money grab plain and simple. Heck, why not a different uniform for every day of the week?

I wonder if a team can do that. That is, basically become the Oregon Ducks of the NHL.

I can’t wait until a forward crashes into the goalie “cleats up” trying to make it to home plate.

While a lot of the fans are aggro, the team itself has a reputation for thugs and criminals. Bill Romanowski, Jon Ritchie, Greg Biekert, George Atkinson, Jack Tatum, Sebas Janikowski… Even their coach slugged one of his assistants a few years back.

As a kings’ fan (for now) I couldn’t care less abuot the color scheme.  How about a new GM who can acutally buiild a team?

If they’re not going old school purple and gold, then these unis are the next best thing for them. Sharp.

I like them.

The black, silver, and white were the Kings’ glory years (the Gretzky Era).  I’m not big on black in colors, but to me personally the Kings are an exception.

Purple works for some teams, but it wasn’t working for the kings.

The kings lost all three games at home in the playoffs last season while playing in those cursed, ugly, drab black uniforms.  Those things should be burned, not made the number one outfit.  This is a terrible decision.  The bold, big crown with the regal purple was perfect.  And management is not fooling anyone with the lies about how much the fans wanted this.  Gangsters and Raiders fans may have clamored for this change, but not true kings fans.  This is obviously about selling more merchandise.  As a long-time fan, I for one will never spend a penny on the new stuff.  Going back to purple and gold would have much better than this.
