Kings’ Bernier missing in inaction

This is just plain old weird, per LA Kings Insider's Joe Rosen:

Jonathan Bernier, who was not seen at the White House with the rest of the Los Angeles Kings at yesterday’s ceremony, is not on the ice with the team at today’s practice at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

Goaltending Coach Bill Ranford is practicing with the team and wearing an extra pair of equipment previously used in games by Jonathan Quick.

Though Bernier has been included in potential trade scenarios, there is also the possibility that a personal issue is currently keeping him from the team.

I’ll continue to consult with team personnel on Bernier’s status. Should concrete information become available, it will be posted to LAKingsInsider.com.

Update: Cue, "Everybody stop panicking!" per the Los Angeles Times' Lisa Dillman:

I hope he's okay. It takes quite the familial issue to have to miss a White House visit.

Update #2: Bummer :(

I can understand missing practice because of Family Matters, thats a great show.  And if they are running a marathon on basic cable, the whole day is shot.

don’t forget dropping the $5 mil in coin to meet the BHO, not many folks can afford to throw that kind of paper away

Ah, the Twitter Age of Journalism…

“Bernier’s not on the ice.  Rather than finding out where he is I’m going to post a vague article with no information.  Maybe someone else will find out for me.”
