Kings' Bernier missing in inaction

03/27/2013 at 2:13pm EDT

This is just plain old weird, per LA Kings Insider's Joe Rosen:

Jonathan Bernier, who was not seen at the White House with the rest of the Los Angeles Kings at yesterday’s ceremony, is not on the ice with the team at today’s practice at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

Goaltending Coach Bill Ranford is practicing with the team and wearing an extra pair of equipment previously used in games by Jonathan Quick.

Though Bernier has been included in potential trade scenarios, there is also the possibility that a personal issue is currently keeping him from the team.

I’ll continue to consult with team personnel on Bernier’s status. Should concrete information become available, it will be posted to LAKingsInsider.com.

Update: Cue, "Everybody stop panicking!" per the Los Angeles Times' Lisa Dillman:

I hope he's okay. It takes quite the familial issue to have to miss a White House visit.

Update #2: Bummer :(
