A 2nd and a 3rd for Brendan Smith last year. How about a 1st and a 2nd for Mr. All-Star?

It would be dereliction of duty not to get on the phone about this.  NYR now down to a single R shot on defense whose played more than 18 games.  Would love a first, but probably willing to take a second.  It’s easily the best opportunity we’re likely to get.

Morgan Reilly in Toronto, Shattenkirk in N.Y.

Maybe Kenny was correct in waiting with Green?....

Perhaps he was right, but it won’t be because of Toronto’s need.  I don’t see him going there.  NY maybe.  But I could be wrong.

First sign of weakness would be to call NY. Have to wait for their call.

I’m sure there is a face-saving way to make the call if you’re KH.  It’s one of the things I’ve always been interested in about the business of buying and selling meat (uh, err, players): how exactly does one break the ice on that call?

Mike Green? THE Mike Green? The guy that soiled the bed in the 09 playoffs for the caps because his girlfriend dumped him right before the ECF?  I’d stay as far away from that guy at the deadline as possible if I’m Toronto.  NYR, well, whatever, they can’t ever pass on a D man at the deadline that will inevitably let them down and then sign them to a gigantic contract affixed to a noose around their necks.

I sincerely hope that every GM in the NHL makes decisions based on gossip from nearly a decade ago.
