Maybe the blue shirts are looking at his whole body of work, because his playoff run with the Caps was absymal. I think the term and dollar value are too high, but if evidence to the contrary were presented I’d be curious to read it. What do you folks think?

He may habe looked real good playing with or against lesser competition than pietrangelo, bouwmeester, etc. Thats a good system over there.

It lools like his price came down from a 7x7 demand.

I may have made this deal, because 4 years at less than 7 mil seems easier to stomach for a guy that may be closer to washington shatty than blues shatty

Compare that contract to either Ericcson’s or Dekeyser’s and tell me again why it’s a bad contract?

Even with a salary cap, the ownership group of the Rangers can throw crazy money at free agents. With all the wall Street boys & hedge fund types streaming through the doors of MSG .....Do you think $6mil for 4 years is going to disrupt their balance sheet?

I think it’s a bad money deal…..I guess we’ll see if it’s a bad hockey deal in a year or so????

If shatenkirk had had even just a decent playoffs, he would have made a ton more money.

Be interesting to see if he’ll be just another buyout for NY.

All the Rangers have to do is make ths playoffs and they have a chance.  Shattenkirk gets them to the show.  Good signing.  One day people will realize you need to accept deficiencies in players game for what they bring.  No other Lidstroms.  As far as fitting with thd Blue Shirts.. its a good signing, especially with term.

Not that he was an option for us, but this contract makes Holland’s Daley contract look absurd. Holland isn’t even trying anymore.

Shirts look to be really focusing in thsir transition game.  For all who hate smith, its because we had two of the greatest D of our generation in Lidstrom and Rafalski(yeah, I said it)  but Smith was excelle t on transition.  Sometimes the wrong side of the transition but thatll happen.  Thats why we have goalies, thankfully.

Its a speed game and with the Girardi buyout and this signing along with Smith, this is really shaping into a AV team.  Especially being thin down the middle, this will speed up their game.

Good signing.  Good a team and chance as detroit if they make the postseason.  LA showrd us that in 2012

And NY’s contract for Brendan Smith make’s Holland’s Daley deal look genius, so what’s your point?
