Kessel Won’t Forget Tonight

Whatever happens in the Bruins’ season opener tonight at the BankAtlantic Center - good or bad - will be etched indelibly into Kessel’s brain as only a first game can be. And that might be true for many Bruins fans watching back home, for Kessel is the most intriguing rookie the Black ’n’ Gold have had since the Joe Thornton and Sergei Samsonov stepped onto the then-FleetCenter ice nine years ago. Once considered to be the top pick in last year’s draft, the Wisconsin native came to the Bruins with the No. 5 overall choice, thanks in large part to some questions regarding his maturity that made other teams skittish.
