Ken Daniels Talks Hockey

from Hockey Refs,
Ken Daniels has spent most of his life around the hockey rink - first as a player, then as an official, and now as a television announcer/commentator. He has served as the voice of the Detroit Red Wings on Fox Sports Net Detroit for eight seasons and also does local and regional college hockey broadcasts. Prior to coming to Detroit, Daniels worked in his hometown of Toronto for CBC's Hockey Night in Canada program. HockeyRefs.com: How hard is it, as a broadcaster, not to criticize the officials? Daniels: Having seen what I have gone through now, I do take a step back. I don’t get mad at referees for making the calls, but I do get mad at referees for making the phantom calls when you lift the guy’s stick and take the puck and get called for hooking. Those calls kill me and that’s when we criticize the referees. Let the battle for the puck go and to me, I hope Stephen Walkom is on the referee making the stupid call.
