Karlsson Says Early Contract Talks Have Gone Well

from Allen Panzeri of Sens Extra,
Erik Karlsson doesn’t see himself having to hold out to get the contract he wants from the Ottawa Senators.
The 22-year-old defenceman said that preliminary talks have gone well and there are no apparent issues that would prevent the completion of a deal well before the start of the season.
He said his preference would be to sign a long-term deal, since he wants to stay in Ottawa for “a long time,” but he’s confident the two sides can reach a deal with which they’re comfortable.
That could take some delicate negotiating, especially after Senators owner Eugene Melnyk cautioned Karlsson in early May that his demands would have to be “reasonable.”
