There is an up-and-coming female boxer with fast hands and a famous last name, but unlike Laila Ali, she does not want to be known or promoted as anyone’s relative. Paul Kariya declined to comment on his sister’s career. Paul’s name appears in small print on the promotional postcard for the bout next week: “Sister of N.H.L star Paul Kariya.” But as a sign of respect, the promoter Lou DiBella refrained from mentioning him when he introduced Noriko at a news conference in Manhattan late last month. It was a delicate dance for a businessman. DiBella would love to see the brothers at ringside to generate more interest in Noriko. “Having brothers is something she is going to have to take advantage of,” he said. But he has no plans to fly them to the fight. “I know they won’t show up,” Noriko said.More
