Jonathan Toews Has Been Out Longer Than Expected

At first the Blackhawks did not think Jonathan Toews' back injury was going to keep him out very long. Toews said he would be playing through it if this were the playoffs.

But there has been no improvement, and the Hawks are now going keep Toews off the ice for at least the next few days to see if it gets better.

Toews missed his sixth consecutive game Sunday against the Jets and although he skated in the morning, coach Joel Quenneville said Toews will not skate the next three days because Quenneville said the injury is not getting better.

"We'll keep him off for a few days and get a better assessment the middle of the week or so," Quenneville said.
