Drouin’s camp was never going to win this.  Ever.

So he could have gone to the AHL, lit it up - since he thinks he deserves better than to be there, then returned to the Lighting in time to contribute during their playoff run (which, at the pace they are playing, could be deep).

Instead, he’ll return to the AHL and likely spend the rest of the year there regardless of how well he does.

If he does exceedingly well and there is every reason to believe he makes them more likely to win a Cup (and no cap for the playoffs), why wouldn’t they bring him up? Cooper would pretty much have to say “no effing way,” right?

Talent almost always wins out, especially for a team that is this close to being a Cup winner, and may have their window slammed shut violently this offseason both due to Drouin and Stamkos.
