I still can’t help but think that Brian Burke’s fingerprints were all over that fiasco from the start.

I don’t blame Torts for who he sent out to counter Calgary’s dip-shit squad. Calgary came to scrap and if there hadn’t of been dance partners you can bet that they would have worked over the Sedins or whoever else lined up against them. I suppose the officials could have warned both benches before the puck drop about automatic game misconducts but it probably wouldn’t of had much effect on the Flames, who have absolutely nothing to play for.

I don’t blame Torts for who he sent out… but it’s not like he was visiting the Calgary room to toast marshmellows and sing Kumbaya.

It also shouldn’t be a surprise that Hartley would do something like this. But Torts should know better than to take the route he did.

I dont think Tortorella wanted to get into Flame’s locker room
In fact, I would bet Tort KNEW there was a camera exactly on that spot, filming all he did

I think all he wanted was to get attention to all that happened, and make it very clear that it was Hartley’s intention all along, and that he had his hands tied and HAD to respond with a similar unit of starters

This comes from a fan that thinks fights should be banned from the NHL, but is pretty tired of seeing his team’s stars getting elbowed to the head, or having their heads used as a hammer to fix the boards, without even a fine beeing throw to the other team, much less a suspension
the NHL have no idea how to police the players, and I agree with Torts on this one, he HAD TO put his 4th line on that face-off, sadly…  And he had all the right to be pissed about it, in my opinion

If that’s what he wanted, he went about things stupidly.

The only way we can say, “Torts knew exectly what he was doing,” is if he wanted to get suspended and fined - because that’s what will happen, he’ll get suspended and fined.

Torts lost his composure. He has no one to blame but himself for going to the Calgary locker room after the first period.

Howard had a situation last night where he could’ve lost his cool when he got run into his net. Instead, he pushed Clifford one or two times and then he got up off of him and skated away. Then when Richards came after him, Howard merely pushed him back. Howard didn’t lose his mind and throw a temper tantrum.

Torts threw a temper tantrum.

Well, we agree he put a show for us, just disagree on what was his intentions

And he is a coach, he can’t “push Hartley 1 or 2 times, then move away”
Those are 2 completely different cenarios, Tort’s and Howard’s. Not a honest comparison IMO

Or if he wanted a face to face meeting with league officials to talk about the bushleague move that Hartley pulled.

I have been following Tortorella since his days as a player in the ECHL… He has what some people call “passion”... others would call him a crybaby, a rage-aholic, and a drama queen. He has a long history of losing control of his emotions and doing stupid s&*t like this to opposing coaches, players (including his own), and the even fans, then trying to justify his actions as some kind of “moral imperative”... His 5 years with the Rangers made me (and many other Rangers fans) despise him for it… This latest move was over the top, accosting the other team in the tunnel is a definite no-no… I hope the league throws the book at him…

Tortorella was in a no win situation. If he puts his tough guys in as he did, he is part of a staged fight, if he doesn’t and puts in his top line and they get into a fight he loses them for the game and is blamed for not putting in his tough guys. Hartley set him up and he was pssed about it. Can’t blame him for that.
