Nice to see an MTU grad win it.  Good for him.

Not sure what makes me happier: that he had a fantastic weekend topped off by the fans chanting him into the MVP award, or that Bettman is probably really unhappy.

I’m sure Bettman’s really unhappy that the weekend went so well and that even crusty, “The ASG is worse than the holocaust” people embraced it.

Every. single. time they cut to John Scott, he had the biggest smile plastered on his face. Just pure, genuine joy. If that didn’t make you smile, you are clearly made of stone. Both the 3-on-3 format and the John Scott saga made this an incredibly watchable all-star game.

I really enjoyed the all-star game this year.  Players seemed to really enjoy the 3v3 and there was actual effort throughout the three games.

And, I was cheering for John Scott the entire weekend.  He looked like a giant kid out there.  Always had a smile, always laughing.  I cracked up seeing him laugh at Kane’s reception at the beginning of the skills competition.

I really hope they keep this format for a while.

That said, did you embrace it?

The world is a good place

Started as a stupid joke by losers, became a battle between good and evil.  Thank god for herd mentality.

It’s just so strange that no one is denouncing Scott for being a conspiracy theorist, after his article clearly states that he was traded because of the all-star game.

His article also makes it clear that he thinks of himself as one of the 700 best hockey players in the world.  Cool stuff.  Can anyone at least offer a scathing gripe about a game that no one made them watch?

You can almost bet the NHL will use this success to add a way for the fans to pick a journeyman type player, one who was never elite but had a long career and is respected by the public. Scott handle this so well its no wonder everyone embraced it eventually.

The results of the 3v3 were a bit shocking. A 1-0 game??? Yet is was very entertaining. I’m not sure why so many were trashing last years event but this one was as least as entertaining.

Burns may not be the prototypical player you’d want as the face of the league but he sure lets everyone know that the players have a lot of fun. He was a very entertaining interview.
