Today’s three cheers (a little late because, you know, a dad’s gotta take his two-year-old to Sesame Street Live every now and again) for the NHL’s top performers from a night ago:
***Cheers to Toronto’s Phil Kessel, whose overtime tally toppled the Rangers in New York, improving the Leafs’ stellar start to a perfect 4-0-0. The OT winner was Kessel’s second of the game and fourth of the season and the former Bruin also added an assist earlier in the contest. Clarke MacArthur also scored for Toronto - the impressive fifth goal of the year for the Buffalo/Atlanta castoff
**Cheers to Dustin Brown of the Los Angeles Kings, who led his club to a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks with a pair of third period goals. The Kings improved to 3-1-0 with the win, despite sending just 19 shots at Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo.
*And big time cheers to Atlanta’s Anthony Stewart, whose second power play goal of the third period knotted the game at four and earned him his first career hat trick en route to a 5-4 shootout win for the Thrashers.
Tonight, the Tampa Bay Lightning look to push their perfect start to the new season to 4-0-0, visiting the Florida Panthers in Sunrise. I’ll be chatting up the game on Twitter, so feel free to drop me a line.
