Today’s three cheers, in honor of outstanding performances from last night’s action:
***Cheers to Tampa Bay’s Ryan Malone, whose three-point effort was capped with an overtime winner in Montreal, leading the Lightning to their second win in as many tries on the young season.
**Cheers to Toronto’s Clarke MacArthur, dealt by Buffalo last year and non-tendered by Atlanta in the off-season, who managed a pair of goals to give him four in three games, leading the Toronto Maple Leafs to their third consecutive win. 3-0-0 to start the season for the Leafs – plan the parade!
*And big time cheers to New Jersey’s Martin Brodeur. Who else to cure the Devils ills? Brodeur bested Buffalo’s Ryan Miller in an epic goaltending battle that saw New Jersey prevail on an overtime tally by Ilya Kovalchuk. Playing shorthanded once again due to injury and salary cap trouble, the Devils leaned on their netminding icon, who made 24 saves to put his club in the win column for the first time this year.
And that, my friends, does it for today.
Tampa vs. Philly’s in my sights tonight. Join me on Twitter during the game, won’t ya?
