Kukla's Korner Hockey

Jiri Fischer not thrilled with what happened, broke down a bit and thanked the Dr. who helped him, called him his guardian angel.
Very emotional, said many people don't get a second chance like he did. Thanked everyone for their prayers and said he was the lucky one on that day, a 15 year old girl died the same day locally with the same problem Jiri had.
Fischer sadi the people who helped him really know and he wants to thank them again and again.
Was asked if he will return to the ice, he would like to think he would one day would but left it at that.
He said everyone should live their life to the fullest, but who knows what that is until something like this actually happens.
Was asked by Mitch Albom if he should play hockey again? It comes down to if someone will let you play in the NHL. It comes down to the technology in medicine today. There are areas that can be explored in the next month or years that may allow him to play. He believes there are many smart people out there who could help him, doesn't see himself coming back in the next few weeks, but this is what he does.
Sounds like to me he is holding on to any hope available to him.
This is a raw post, excuse any misspellings.
2nd part 4:20pm
....Fischer is very emotional when it comes to thanking everyone who helped him. Talked about his fiancee Avery while breaking down and how dedicated she is too him.
Was asked if a Dr. has advised him not to play. Fisch responded all the doctors are being as cautious as possible, and preventing any further problems in the future. He holds hope for the future that something can be discovered that will allow him to play again.
Fischer is being constantly monitored, what goes into his body and he is not worried about that (as many of you know, he is a health freak and refrains from anything bad for his body).
Said when he was home, his heart rate raised out of the blue and things need to be figured out.
3rd part 4:26pm.
..Was asked if he has faced the fact that he may not play again. He feels a lot of tests need to be done that will clarify the situation, and as mentioned before, medical advances may come about in the matter of months, so he is holding out to find out exacty what happened to him until he gets a specific answer. He hopes he does not have to face life without hockey in the future.
Mitch Albom asked Dr. Colucci if he would advise Jiri to play. He said testing is still going on so too early to talk about anything like that at his point.
4:31pm, Press Conference over
...My take, Fischer still wants to play and will exhaust all means to find a way to get him on the ice again. As he said, he is only 25, what else is he supposed to do?
If by chance the cause of this is discovered, Fischer will want to get back onto the ice. But will it is the question that needs to be answered.
note: sorry for the delay, as you can see I thought this post was updating while I was typing. I just realized wasn't until I checked the blog.
, from the CP via TSN,
Detroit Red Wings defenceman Jiri Fischer says he feels lucky to be alive and hopes to resume his hockey career in the future.
Fischer could barely contain his emotions as he spoke to the media for the first time since Nov. 21 when he collapsed on the team's bench during a game against Nashville. He often choked back tears and needed several breaks to compose himself.
