Jets A Contender For The Playoffs

E.J. Hradek of NHL.com answers numerous email questions…
How do you think travel to Winnipeg will shape the race in the East Conference/Southeast Division?
I think it will be a particular pain in the neck for teams in the Southeast Division, who’ll each have to make three trips to the ‘Peg. The Panthers and Lightning, in particular, must be pumped! I also imagine it will be more of a headache for other Eastern Conference foes who are spoiled by their more-cushy travel schedule.
I believe the Jets will have a real advantage because of the excitement in the market. That building will be sold out and loud each and every night. The former Thrashers were a competitive bunch for most of the season despite missing the playoffs. If they can stay reasonably healthy, I believe they have an excellent chance to secure a playoff spot in the East.

As I see it, the Jets have about a .033% of winning it all this year. Contrast that with the Red Wings, who have a .033% chance right now, and the defending cup champs are at a .033% as well.

Hradek regularly spouts stupid things, but this is amongst the stupidest so far this offseason…

Statistically, yes. At this point in the year, no team has any advantage over any other. The wings could be ABSOLUTELY STACKED, top to bottom, and have no chemistry. It’s not likely, but given what they have done so far on the ice, all teams have a statistically even opportunity.
That said, the wings will win it all this year.

EJ Hradek is an idiot. He’s the same writer who voted Mike Green as the Norris Trophy winner in 09-10.

I guess EJ thinks that the cold Canadian air is going to propell them into the playoffs. Its still the Thrashers man.
