via the Ducks PR department,
Ducks LW Jason Blake suffered a deep laceration just above his left wrist last night vs. San Jose. He was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center for sutures and evaluation (was released from the hospital this morning). Blake was diagnosed with tendon damage, which will require corrective surgery on Monday at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles (performed by Dr. David Hay).
Blake is expected to make a full recovery and return to play in approximately three months.

Here’s what Burns had to say about the accident…
“It was a weird, freak play – the battle in the faceoff and I didn’t really know he fell right away. He was kind of behind me, the puck was there and I was trying to kick the puck up and I think he was trying to get the puck. It was just a battle and I didn’t even know he was on the ground.”

Awful injury. Glad he’ll recover but so frustrating for him to have to be out so long.

Sounds a lot like the type of injury Mike Modano suffered last season with the Wings. Hope everything works out for Blake; such a bummer this early in the season.
