from Michael Traikos of the National Post,
The word his agent used was “selective.”
That is one way of describing why Jarome Iginla remains without a contract heading into training camp. As a 40-year-old free agent, he isn’t looking to sign with just anyone. He’s got a wish list of wants that likely includes playing meaningful minutes on a Stanley Cup-contending team, in a city that makes sense for his family.
Teaming up with Connor McDavid in his hometown of Edmonton might make sense. So, too, would be returning to Calgary for one last hurrah. And with Chris Kunitz gone in Pittsburgh, reuniting with Sidney Crosby on the Penguins could be the perfect fit for someone chasing that elusive championship.
The problem? It isn’t just Iginla who is being choosy.
