LOL The only way to complete this is for Jordin Tootoo to get two, too.

But yeah, the league has to wait for someone to get blasted out of a game before they do anything about it.  Stupid…

2 games for an obscene ? gesture,

2 games for a blindsided interference concussion hit.

0 games for a blatant elbow by duncan keith

I guess I stop holding my breath waiting for colin campbell to lay down the law???????

I really think the suspension for Hjalmarsson should be longer.  After all, a gesture is far, far less serious than a hit that could, but luckily, did not, end someone’s career.

Wow, that surprises me. I thought for sure they would give him at least three so that he wasn’t on the ice when the Sabres play in Chicago this weekend.  Especially since one Sabre has already said he’d be looking for revenge against Hjalmarsson.

So embarrassing the league(which is plenty capable of doing that by itself) is just as serious a crime as potentially ruining the rest of someone’s life. Got it.

you’ve got be shitting me. do those disciplinary guys actually SEE and UNDERSTAND what they’re doing?!

the message is: “don’t matter whether you drill someone in the boards head-first or tell him to give you a bj, you’re gonna miss the same amount of games.”

i thought the commissioners of our del were stupid, ignorant, short-sighted man without a grip on reality. sad to see that this season, so far, the nhl don’t act differently.

last season had its strange decisions, true enough, but that hjalmarsson/wisniewski stuff is really too much to take. *shakes head*

Other than those watching with Detroit colored glasses, two games is fair.

i don’t care a second about the team hammer plays on. i really dig that guy. i’d never call him a dirty player or one with an intention to harm others. what bothers me is the fact that the signal given by the league in dishing out similar suspensions for incidents that couldn’t be farther apart. why not suspend one guy and fine the other?

the nhl wanted to make a statement against plays that injure players. if this is said statement, then it’s a real joke.

Only in the NHL is a blindside hit that seriously injures a player considered the same as miming oral sex to another player on the ice.

I guess maybe Avery was emotionally injured, and there was clear intent to do so… wink

How strange that the wheel ‘o supplimentary discipline landed on “2 game suspension twice”.  I mean, what are the odds?

Why did he get suspended for saying he needs to brush his teeth?

That’s odd, because when the video was originally shown, you didn’t seem to think it was really penalty worthy at all?

Looked like he hit from the side as the puck was arriving.

Posted by timbits on 10/11/10 at 10:10 PM ET

So it’s fair to give a guy a two-game suspension for a hit from the side as the puck is arriving, just because the player went off on a stretcher?

Which was it, Timbits?  Was it a suspension-worthy penalty or a clean hit with an ugly result?  Did you go to the Colin Campbell school of hockey opinions?

Nice trolling though…
