from Kevin Allen of USA TODAY,
What better way to celebrate the second day of Hockey Weekend Across America than to fill an iconic 90-year-old NFL stadium in Chicago with 60,000-plus NHL fans.
A sellout crowd is expected tonight at Soldier Field (8 p.m. ET, NBC) when the Chicago Blackhawks host the Pittsburgh Penguins as part of the NHL’s Stadium Series. The Blackhawks and Penguins are among the top five contenders for the 2014 Stanley Cup.
According to weather.com, there is a 70% chance of snow during the game. A game-time temperature of 20 degrees is expected.
Other hockey happenings in America today:
430 rinks across the country will host a Try Hockey for Free event with 10,000 kids expected to participate for the first time. This marks record participation for this USA Hockey-sponsored event. The previous record was 190 rinks and 6,000 participants. USA Hockey is offering a free USA Hockey Advantage App, available at the Google Play and Apple App store, to help fans stay up-to-date on all of the organization’s events.
