The Washington Capitals have signed Mikhail Grabovski to a one-year deal.
The 29-year-old Belarussian spent the past five seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he posted nine goals and seven assists last year in a lockout-shortened season.
A six-year veteran of the NHL, Grabovski had signed a five-year, $27.5 million extension with the Leafs in March 2012, but was then bought out by the club in July of this year after a post-season campaign where he was playoff-worst minus-10.

It appears Mikhal Grabovski has found a new NHL home.
Grabovski told Sportsnet 590 the Fan’s Matt Brown on Thursday that he has agreed to a deal with the Washington Capitals that will be made official on Friday. An report early Thursday from a Belarus outlet said it was a one-year, $3-million deal.
ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have signed center Mikhail Grabovski to a one-year, $3 million contract, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
“Mikhail adds speed and offense to our lineup, and we are very pleased to have him sign with the Capitals,” said McPhee. “We believe he will be an excellent addition to our club.”
