Islanders Extend Jurcina

UNIONDALE, NY, January 5, 2010 – The New York Islanders announced today that defenseman Milan Jurcina has agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension.

Jurcina, 27, has four points (two goals, two assists) in 19 games with the Islanders this season, while leading the team with a +1 rating.  This season, the Islanders are 11-5-3 with Jurcina in the lineup.

“Milan has brought solid defensive play and size to our defense this season,” Islanders General Manager, Garth Snow said.  “We’re excited to have him return to our lineup next year to help solidify our defense unit.”
