Is This Brule’s Last Chance?

GLENDALE, ARIZONA—- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today the Coyotes have claimed center Gilbert Brule off re-entry waivers from the Edmonton Oilers.

The 5-foot-11, 174 pound Brule has recorded 8-10-18 in 27 games this season with the Oklahoma City Barons, the Oilers American Hockey League. In 2010-11, the Edmonton, Alberta native appeared in 41 games with the Oilers, registering 7-2-9 and 41 penalty minutes (PIM).

In 263 career NHL games with the Oilers and Columbus Blue Jackets, the 25-year-old Brule has recorded 38-43-81. He set career highs in goals (17), assists (20), points (37), power play goals (2) and game-winning goals (3) with Edmonton during the 2009-10 season.

Brule was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round (sixth overall) in the 2005 Entry Draft.

The Coyotes also announced that center Boyd Gordon has been activated off Injured Reserve. Gordon missed seven games with a lower-body injury.

This poor kid was made to practice until he cried, and then taught to feel superior.  His poor attitude is evident in his lack of work ethic, but I still feel bad for the guy.  He has been mishandled since day one, starting with the attempt to make him the savior of the jackets.  I suspect he’ll make a GM look good before he’s done.

The two orgs he’s played for are well-known for their abysmal player development.  Surely that’s a lot of it right there.

Unfortunately for him, PHX is another org known for their abysmal player development…

Given the laughingstock franchises involved, one has to feel bad for the guy.
