from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun,
The losses and the injuries are mounting for the Ottawa Senators.
Coming off an ugly 6-3 loss to the New York Islanders Friday night at the Barclay’s Center, the Senators were forced to call up blueliners Stefan Elliott and Christian Wolanin as they prepare to face the Washington Capitals Saturday night at the Canadian Tire Centre.
Not only did the Senators lose defenceman Thomas Chabot is gone for three weeks with an upper body injury in the loss to the Isles, defenceman Christian Jaros is gone for four weeks with a broken finger and winger Magnus Paajarvi has an upper body issue.
They won’t play against the Caps. Jaros broke his finger in a fight late in the game and Paajarvi was also hurt in a fight. Losing Chabot and Jaros hurts a lot.
“That’s huge,” said coach Guy Boucher. “Let’s not kid ourselves (Chabot) is our top (defenceman) and Jaros is doing great. He was definitely developing at a very fast rate. He was turning into a solid defensive defenceman that has some tools with puck also.”
